St Mewan Sinfonia, Cornwall’s leading string orchestra has launched an exciting new website in readiness for its 2010 programme www.stmewansinfonia.org.uk
Jane Richards, viola player with the orchestra has put the site together, with the help of Lostwithiel based web designers, iteracy. A spokesman for the orchestra said “it’s a really exciting time for the orchestra, we’ve got a wonderful new programme this year and with the website members of the public and audiences can learn more about the orchestra, the music we are playing and how to contact us”.
St Mewan’s 2010 programme of concerts starts on Sunday 20th June in the beautiful church of St Endellion, when the orchestra will be joined by the renowned resident organist at St Endellion, Angeline Seymour playing Handel’s concerto for organ and Strings “The cuckoo and the Nightingale”.
In addition the orchestra will be playing a varied programme including the Sinfonia from the Christmas Oratorio by Bach and Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings in E major. Martin White the orchestra’s leader shows his versatility by taking up the viola and playing the solo part in Telemann’s concerto for viola. David Frost conducts.
